The academic programme is supported by business units responsible for marketing, estates, finance, human resources, IT, catering, cleaning, health and safety, and the School's trading subsidiary. The School employs almost 600 staff and operates seven days a week during term-time.

Uppingham School Estates Department is a multi-trade maintenance organisation committed to a policy of delivering a swift response, high repair service to the buildings, which make up the Estate. The Maintenance Department has an establishment of around 19 posts comprising carpenters, plumbers, decorators and electricians. Many of the School's buildings are either listed and/or lie in the Uppingham Conservation Area. This brings its own special demands to the job of the Maintenance Department.
