Job description

Overview

We are seeking an Electrician to carry out effective and high-quality maintenance across the Estate for the benefit of our patients and colleagues. The role is permanent and forms part of the Maintenance Team for the Estates and Facilities Division where you will have the opportunity to support and work with colleagues both internal to the team and externally. You will be based at West Suffolk Hospital but will be required to visit other sites across the West Suffolk area.

Responsibilities

• Be responsible for calibration and fault finding on a wide range of engineering plant and equipment, electrical distribution, lighting, fire detection, building control & automation, standby generator plant, security access control, and nurse call system requirements within the West Suffolk Hospital NHS Foundation Trust as well as other Trust properties as directed by Management.
• Work to a schedule of planned and reactive works as part of the Estates maintenance activities.
• Collaborate with other trades to ensure a high standard of patient care.
• After appropriate training, undertake emergency on-call duties and join the Estates Department roster for On-Call services.
• Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with the Trusts safety standards and procedures, British Standards and HTM guidelines.

Requirements / Qualifications

• Experience as an Electrician with a focus on maintenance of electrical systems and related building services.
• Ability to work alongside other trades and adapt to a collaborative environment.
• Willingness to undertake emergency on-call duties after training and participate in the On-Call roster.
• Commitment to safety, adherence to British Standards and HTM guidelines, and to working within the Trust’s safety standards and procedures.
