Job summary

A leading facilities management company is seeking a skilled On-Site Electrician for the Birmingham Sea Life Centre. This hands-on role involves ensuring the electrical systems are safe and operational for public exhibits and back-of-house operations. Responsibilities include performing routine maintenance, responding to faults, and ensuring compliance with regulations. Candidates should possess a NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation and 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification, along with strong problem-solving skills. This position demands flexibility for weekend and out-of-hours work.

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of experience working in a commercial environment.
  • Experience in leisure, hospitality, or visitor attraction environments is preferred.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a skilled and reliable On‑Site Electrician to join our facilities team at the Birmingham Sea Life Centre. This is a hands‑on role responsible for ensuring the electrical systems across the site are safe, compliant, and fully operational to support both public‑facing exhibits and back‑of‑house operations.,

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine electrical maintenance and repairs across the site.
  • Respond promptly to electrical faults and emergencies.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and electrical standards.
  • Support installation and commissioning of new equipment and exhibits.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider facilities and technical teams.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used.
  • Participate in a rota covering weekends and occasional out‑of‑hours work.
Qualifications
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification (BS 7671).
  • Proven experience working in a commercial environment.
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical Installation.
  • Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • Flexibility to work weekends and respond to urgent issues.
  • Experience in leisure, hospitality, or visitor attraction environments.
  • Knowledge of building management systems (BMS).
