Job description

We are seeking a dedicated fully qualified Electrician to join our team at HMP Downview, a category C, female prison. HMP Downview runs like a self‑contained city; it takes hundreds of people to keep it functioning, and as the Facilities Maintenance Team we are committed to driving the smooth and safe operation, like a heart that pumps blood through the body. Everything we do impacts every prisoner, employee, and visitor, and the wider families and community. As an Electrician, you will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced and passionate colleagues ranging from plumbers and other electricians to carpenters, painters, cleaners, administrators and others, all dedicated to making a positive difference and providing a safe and secure environment for all.

Qualifications
  • Certificate in BS7671:2018 (18th edition)
  • Level 3 qualification in Electrical Installation or Electrotechnical Services (City & Guilds/EAL), including relevant NVQs and competency assessments (AM2/AM2S). For example: 2367 or 2357.
  • Two years' experience working in a role as a fully qualified electrician
  • Experience working on commercial or industrial electrical systems
  • Good working knowledge of planned and preventive maintenance operations
  • Good Health & Safety knowledge
  • Excellent organisational, time management and people skills

Future Plans. GFSL has been notified by its shareholder (MOJ) that the provision of FM Services will in future be delivered by the private sector.
