Job summary

A leading manufacturing company in England is looking for an experienced test engineer to join their team. You will conduct all test activities according to established safety regulations and work closely with clients during testing phases. The ideal candidate will have experience with transformer and power generator testing, excellent communication skills, and be self-motivated to meet tight deadlines. This role offers opportunities to influence quality assurance in a state-of-the-art test center.

Qualifications

  • Experience with transformer testing including earth testing and electrical pressure testing.
  • Experience in power generator testing including rotating alternator test and static resistance testing.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Self-motivated and flexible to work unsociable hours.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct all test activities according to safety regulations.
  • Manage client relationships and provide technical support.
  • Generate and maintain accurate test records.
  • Ensure test equipment is calibrated and undamaged.

Job description

A great opportunity has arisen for an experienced test engineer to join a leading manufacturing company who will be shortly opening a state of the art test centre ensuring they are leading the way in manufacturing excellence.

Job Description:
  • Conduct all test activities in line with established Health & Safety regulations, relevant industry standards and best practice industry standards, ensuring the safety of all employees;
  • Conduct production testing of finished goods;
  • Generate accurate production test sheets for all products. Ensure completed test records are filed and maintained as required;
  • Carry out fault finding, diagnostic and test calculations as required.
  • Conduct routine and type testing (Noise, Temperature Rise, Partial Discharge, impulse, etc.) as required by Customer specifications;
  • Conduct customer witnessed testing and act as point of contact for all customer appointed inspectors during site visits;
  • Generate and validate test certificates for internal and customer end user documentation reports;
  • Generate inter-departmental reports, liaise with Design and Production functions to ensure best practice design & production methods;
  • Maintain up to date files for Test Specifications and Electrical Regulations;
  • Ensure all test equipment has an in-date calibration certificate, is free from damage and capable of conducting the test at hand;
  • Direct involvement in managing client relationships, assisting with and providing support and technical knowledge where required.
Beneficial Skills / Qualifications:
  • GCSEs High school or equivalent
  • Electrical / Electronic City & Guilds Apprenticeship 2381, 2391
  • Will have prior experience Transformer Testing:
    • Earth testing
    • Electrical pressure testing
    • Live system testing
    • Safe operation / protection of electrical power systems
  • Will have prior experience of Power Generator Testing
    • Rotating alternator test
    • Static resistance / insulation test
    • PMG testing
  • Be flexible as the job may involve unsociable hours;
  • Good communication skills and the ability to connect naturally with people;
  • To be able to work well using own initiative and as part of a team;
  • Ability to ensure the work gets done in a timely and effective manner;
  • Ability to follow all Company policies and procedures;
  • Ability to understand and implement written and verbal instructions given;
  • Self-motivated.
