Job description

The Anglian Water Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA) project currently involves the planning, design and construction of circa 320km of new strategic, large‑diameter clean water interconnector pipelines and associated infrastructure across Anglian Water's region. The SPA Alliance is also taking on responsibility for the future interconnector pipelines, a further 260km of strategic interconnector pipelines and associated infrastructure. Working with the project teams, the Supervisor (Electrical) will be responsible for the management of site electrical works, delivery teams and sub‑contractors on site. The role will require the effective utilisation of time and resources to meet the project budgets and delivery programmes. The Supervisor (Electrical) will be expected to carry out the implementation and monitoring of health, safety, quality and environmental performance standards, ensuring all work meets required water industry regulations and AW approved standards. The Supervisor (Electrical) will need to ensure all schemes allocated are in line with the Alliance Management System requirements and that cost and progress issues are highlighted and reported in a timely manner via proactive and innovative situation‑solving skills. This role will be site‑based across the SPA region.

Responsibilities
  • Work in accordance with Anglian Water Electrical Safety rules & procedures.
  • Implement SPA Integrated Management System requirements and statutory legal regulations, paying specific attention to HSE legislation.
  • Ensure all electrical plant and equipment is tested and details recorded on the plant sheets for SPA, and ensure the subcontractor's information is supplied prior to use.
  • Get it right first time; check quality of finished product delivered by your teams, ensuring product is completed to a high standard.
  • Schedule, coordinate and supervise the daily activities of gangs/site operatives.
  • Share and pass on knowledge to site teams.
  • Ensure site teams understand, complete and maintain all required SPA documentation.
  • Order and manage hired, internal and external equipment daily.
  • Manage and control plant and materials, ensuring the correct amount of plant is on site at any time.
  • Co‑ordinate delivery/pick‑up of materials as required, in line with the programme and Site Manager.
  • Oversee electricians or electrical sub‑contractors and commissioning engineers, and assist with commissioning phase, issuing permits when required to control electrical works/isolations on site.
  • Assist in project management from design to delivery, particularly the electrical engineers within SPA and external design companies.
  • Ensure completion of a full induction to H&S in accordance with company policies, procedures, standards and/or guidance.
  • Strong communications, collaboration and stakeholder management.
  • Be open to new technologies and procedures.
  • Willingness to undertake extensive further training specific to the role.
  • Previous supervisory experience in a similar role.
  • Understanding of permit systems.
  • Ability to read electrical drawings, panel drawings and wiring diagrams.
  • Industrial electrical knowledge, including power and controls systems and PLC.
  • Willingness to undertake self‑delivered minor electrical installation works.
  • A good understanding of WIMES Water (Water Industry Mechanical & Electrical Specifications).
  • Willingness to work outside of normal working hours to suit emergencies and planned work.
