The role

As an Electrical Instructor, you’ll deliver and develop high-quality electrical engineering training for military trainees, helping shape the future of defence capability. You’ll be part of our Land Training business unit, supporting the RAF’s Engineering and Maintenance Training Centre (EMTC) programme. Your work will directly contribute to Babcock’s reputation for excellence in defence education and the long‑term capability of the armed forces.

Day-to-day you’ll be:

  • Preparing and delivering electrical training sessions using modern teaching methods and technologies
  • Assessing trainee progress through written and practical evaluations
  • Maintaining and updating course materials to reflect current equipment and standards
  • Monitoring trainee development and providing feedback, support, and remedial instruction
  • Ensuring safety, compliance, and equipment accountability within the training

The role is based onsite at MOD Lyneham, and the set working times are Monday to Friday, totalling 37 hours per week.

Essential experience of the Electrical Instructor:

  • Supervisory experience in a technical or engineering setting
  • Proven experience in a relevant working environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook
  • Knowledge of power generation and distribution systems, including single-phase and three-phase systems
  • Experience with electromechanical equipment

Qualifications for the Electrical Instructor:

  • HND in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g. general electronics and electrical systems)

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
