Job description

Closing date: 12 January 2026

If you are passionate about democracy and ensuring the smooth execution of the electoral processes, we are offering an opportunity for you to work in a busy and varied environment where two days are rarely the same. As a key part of our small and friendly team this new role will offer the right candidate an opportunity to develop an interesting and rewarding career at the heart of the democratic process.

You will need to be a confident communicator so that you can engage regularly with Councillors, colleagues and members of the public about the elections and electoral registration. You also need to be well organised with the ability to continually prioritise an ever-changing workload.

The key tasks of this post will be:

  • Voter registration – Maintain accurate voter registration records, including data entry and verification.
  • Election logistics – Support the planning, organisation and coordination of election events.
  • Voter communication – Respond to inquiries from voters, candidates and other stakeholders.
  • Documentation – Prepare and maintain documentation relating to the electoral processes, ensuring compliance with regulations and policies.
  • Data management – Manage voter databases, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.

The successful applicant will need to be a keen and confident IT user with good keyboard skills. We are also looking for someone who is great at working as part of a team and willing to be flexible as you will occasionally need to work evenings and weekends in the run up to polling day.

Whilst experience in a democratic and/or electoral services environment would be useful, applications from candidates with transferable skills and some experience of working in deadline driven and pressurised roles are just as welcome.
