Job description

A respected Facilities Management provider is looking to appoint a reliable and skilled Electrical Shift Engineer to support critical operations within a critical healthcare environment. This role is vital to maintaining a safe, compliant, and fully functional facility where uptime and responsiveness are crucial. Working on a days & nights shift pattern, the engineer will carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive repairs, and ensure the continuous operation of electrical systems in a live clinical setting.

Responsibilities
  • Perform PPM and reactive tasks on a wide range of electrical systems including lighting, distribution boards, emergency power systems, and fire alarms.
  • Respond to urgent maintenance issues promptly to minimise disruption to clinical services.
  • Carry out fault‑finding, diagnostics, and repairs on LV systems and equipment.
  • Support life safety systems testing (e.g., emergency lighting, fire alarms).
  • Liaise with estates and clinical staff to plan works safely and with minimal impact.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and update shift handover logs.
  • Ensure strict compliance with hospital safety procedures and statutory regulations.
Qualifications
  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent.
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (essential).
  • 2391 or 2394/2395 Testing & Inspection (preferred).Experience in a hospital or critical environment (highly desirable).
  • Strong understanding of health & safety in a live healthcare setting.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a shift team.
  • Excellent communication and fault‑solving skills.
