A regional healthcare trust is seeking a qualified Community Mental Health Nurse to join the Havering Early Intervention in Psychosis Team. EIP Community Mental Health Nurse

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Community Mental Health Nurse within the Havering Early Intervention in Psychosis Team (HEIP). The team is a dynamic and welcoming multidisciplinary group that works with individuals aged 14‑65 experiencing a first episode psychosis. The team includes nurses, psychologists, psychiatrists, an occupational therapist and support workers.

The successful candidate will be a Registered Mental Health Nurse with unrestricted live NMC registration. You should have strong written and verbal communication skills, be able to work effectively as part of a team, and demonstrate an understanding of mental health issues with experience of dealing with emotional distress. You must be able to assess, plan, implement and evaluate all aspects of care, liaise with multidisciplinary teams and other agencies, and engage service users and relatives with empathy and compassion.

The successful candidate will have a caseload of service users they are responsible for under the Community Patient Allocation (CPA) system.

There are regular opportunities for further training and development.

Main duties of the job
  • Case management including assessment, providing interventions and support

  • Medication management and administration (medication includes oral and intramuscular)

Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period.

Starting with NELFT

NELFT places great importance on welcoming new starters. All new starters join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and undertake a comprehensive induction lasting up to two weeks, which includes mandatory training, systems training and equipment allocation. As part of the process, new starters will meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop‑in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

High Cost Area Supplement – Outer London

This post also attracts payment for a High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £4,714 to a maximum of £5,941).
