Northwest Talent Solutions (NWTS) is recruiting on behalf of a global medical technology manufacturer seeking an EHS Engineer to support a high-volume manufacturing site in Plymouth.
This is a hands‑on, site‑based EHS role with real ownership. You will work closely with engineering, operations, and leadership teams to ensure compliance, strengthen safety culture, and maintain environmental and sustainability standards in a regulated manufacturing environment.
This opportunity is ideal for an EHS professional who enjoys being on the floor, partnering with engineering teams, and translating legislation and standards into practical, effective site‑level solutions.
Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance
Support site compliance with UK Health & Safety legislation, environmental regulations, and corporate EHS standards
Maintain and support the sites Environmental Management System (ISO 14001), including audits and management reviews
Act as a key site contact for external audits and regulatory visits (HSE, Environment Agency, local authorities, consultants)
Risk Management & Auditing
Conduct and maintain risk assessments, including COSHH assessments, and ensure appropriate controls are implemented
Lead or support internal and external EHS audits, tracking corrective actions through completion
Support incident, accident, and near‑miss investigations, identifying trends and improvement opportunities
Site Partnership & Training
Partner with engineering and operations teams on new equipment, processes, and change control, ensuring hazards are identified and mitigated
Deliver EHS training for new starters and existing associates based on role requirements
Provide guidance and advice to managers and teams on safe working practices
Environmental & Sustainability Reporting
Monitor and report site environmental metrics including energy, utilities, water usage, and waste management
Support sustainability initiatives and continuous improvement activities
NEBOSH, IOSH, or NVQ Level 6 Health & Safety qualification (or equivalent)
Degree in Health & Safety, Environmental Health, Engineering, or a related discipline
2–5 years of EHS experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment
Proven experience supporting audits, legal compliance, and ISO-aligned systems
Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn site-specific EHS systems
Experience in medical devices, regulated manufacturing, or high-volume production
Project management or team leadership experience
Engineering background or familiarity working closely with manufacturing equipment and processes
Primarily on-site role (minimum 4 days per week)
Collaborative manufacturing environment with strong cross-functional interaction
No travel required
Salary range: £45,000 – £47,500
