Job description

BBS Recruitment is an independent recruitment agency for the transport and logistics sector, supplying to a variety of clients across London, Hertfordshire and surrounding areas. We also recruit for Social Care and Public Sector roles.

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Education, Employment and Training Adviser for our client based in Islington and surrounding areas.

The post holder will fulfil an important role within the Council and as part of Islington Virtual School Team and Children Looked- After and Leaving Care Service will be responsible for ensuring that the council fulfils its statutory responsibilities to promote the educational achievement of looked-after children and care leavers.

Duties & Responsibilities of Education, Employment and Training Adviser :
  • To take responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young person’s / vulnerable adults.
  • To manage and work effectively with a cohort of young people, who require support to engage with education, employment and training opportunities, in particular young people who would benefit from the Islington’s new Care Leaver Youth Trailblazers Programme
  • Develop effective working relationships with key personnel in Children’s Services and partners in order support and challenge professionals and overcome situations where young people are not receiving appropriate education, employment, or training for unnecessary periods of time.
  • Analyse qualitative and quantitative information and data on EET outcomes to effectively meet the needs and requirements of the service.
  • To support the development and creative implementation of the Youth Trailblazer programme aimed at improving the education, employment, and training outcomes of young people.
  • To work with employers known to the scheme to create a range of work shadowing and work experience opportunities for young people
  • To work closely with a range of teams across the council including the Community Wealth Building Directorate, Inclusive Economy, and Jobs
  • To work with the performance team and Leaving Care Team to produce and update database systems with information about the education, employment and training outcomes and status of young people and compile monitoring reports in relation to identified performance indicators
  • To support the Leaving Care Team to collect, record and collate information from young people regarding their education, employment and training interests and experience.
  • To co-ordinate information sessions for young people on various career sectors.
  • To support young people’s transition to further opportunities which will include working closely with IAG personal Advisers, Social Workers, and Young Person’s Advisers within the Leaving Care Team
  • As part of the Virtual School develop and deliver training to professionals, including carers, teachers, and social services staff to further the understanding of professionals in supporting children and young people’s education, employment and training
  • To undertake other duties commensurate to the grade of the post.

Working Hours : 35 per week, 09.00am - 17.30pm. Monday - Friday

Requirements for Education, Employment and Training Adviser :
  • Enhanced DBS Check
  • English and Maths GCSE at grade C / 4 or above
  • Previous experience as Education, Employment and Training Adviser
