Overview

The Education Academy within Barts Health seeks an Education Academy Fellow – Anaesthetics to develop educational opportunities for Anaesthetic and Intensive Care Trainees at Whipps Cross Hospital. The Fellow will work across sites and will have support for a PG Cert in Education or ILM3.

Responsibilities
  • Develop simulation‑based training, essential clinical skills, and bedside teaching for Anaesthetic and Intensive Care trainees.
  • Deliver lectures, teaching clinics, and other educational modalities.
  • Collaborate with other education fellows across the Barts Health group.
Qualifications
  • Medical specialty training with an interest in education.
  • Prior agreement for Out of Programme Experience (OOPE) or Out of Programme Training (OOPT) with the relevant Specialty Training Committee (STC) and Deanery.
  • Commitment to undertake a PG Cert in Education; existing holders can take ILM3 Leadership & Management Course.
Contract
  • 12‑month fixed‑term, 36‑hour week.
  • 20 clinical hours in anaesthesia, labour ward, and intensive care.
  • 16 education and service delivery hours.
  • No on‑call duties.
Personal Development

The Fellow will construct a personal development plan for educational activities and undergo regular appraisal with their clinical supervisor, Director of Medical Education, Specialty Tutor, and Simulation Lead.
