Description

EDI Coordinator

About us

The Francis Crick Institute is Europe’s largest biomedical research institute under one roof. Our world-class scientists and staff collaborate on vital research to help prevent, diagnose and treat illnesses such as cancer, heart disease, infectious diseases and neurodegenerative conditions.

The Crick is a place for collaboration, innovation and exploration across many disciplines. A space where the brightest minds can pursue big and bold ideas and discover answers to crucial scientific questions. We support them in a dynamic environment which fosters excellence with state-of-the-art infrastructure, cutting-edge facilities, and a creative and curious culture. We’ve removed traditional boundaries of departments, divisions and disciplines and instead have an open approach that supports every researcher. This gives us the freedom to take risks and carry out high-quality, pioneering research. Creating a space for discovery without boundaries helps us to turn our science into benefits for human health and the economy.

About the role

Join Our Team as EDI Coordinator and help in cultivating a workplace where everyone can thrive!

The EDI Team is responsible for progressing delivery of the Crick’s Inclusion Strategy and EDI projects and developing a Crick culture, where everyone can thrive. As the leading biomedical research institute in the UK, the Crick has a strong platform to demonstrate leadership on EDI and research culture in UK science.

This is an exciting time to join the Crick, as Professor Edith Heard joins us as CEO, and we launch our new People Strategy and our refreshed Inclusion Strategy.

We are seeking a coordinator with a strong interest in EDI to join our growing EDI team. You will work closely with our staff equality networks, organise EDI events and activities and provide excellent administration for our EDI committees, working groups and training activities.

You will contribute to design and implementation of EDI activities and projects and evaluate the impact of these on the Crick community.

If you are interested in pursuing a career within EDI, and have previous experience of being involved in some EDI projects, we would love to hear from you!

What you will be doing
  • Provide support to Crick staff EDI networks (disability awareness, race equity and LGBT+), attending their meetings regularly, supporting development and delivery of annual plans and budgets
  • Work with the Communications Team to deliver a tailored EDI communications plan for internal and external audiences. Update the EDI-related intranet pages and key messages regularly
  • Undertake committee administration for EDI committees and working groups
  • Organise EDI events and activities to mark equality awareness days including identifying speakers, planning communications and making practical arrangements related to events
  • Work with colleagues and stakeholders to help implement the Inclusion Strategy and Athena Swan action plans
  • Contribute to charter mark applications (e.g., Athena Swan, Race Equality charter)
About you
  • Relevant degree level qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Evidence of prior commitment to, engagement with or coordination of EDI projects or activities.
  • Effective planning and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise in the face of competing demands and proven success in delivering work within tight deadlines.
  • Experience of supporting the delivery of events
  • Ability to work pro-actively, demonstrating a high degree of initiative, and collaboratively as part of a team
