Job summary

A consultancy in the UK is seeking an experienced Earthworks Examiner to work on Network Rail projects. The role involves conducting Earthwork Examinations, supporting planning activities, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. Candidates should have Level 3 Competency in Soil and Rock Slope Examinations, as well as experience with the JBA Database and GizMapp tool. This position is office-based in Manchester, Liverpool, or Warrington with some remote work options, offering a competitive rate of £427/day for a 6-month contract.

Qualifications

• Previously assessed as Level 3 Competency in Soil Slope Examinations and Rock Slope Examinations.
• Experience in producing high quality exams to CIV/065 standard.
• Knowledge of railway geography and network capability.

Responsibilities

• Support the Geotechnical Examination Team in planning.
• Complete Earthwork Examinations.
• Conduct safe and efficient on-site work.
• Report all completed work and maintain records.
• Adhere to company policies and procedures.
• Conduct desk-based reconnaissance studies.
• Liaise with Access Planning teams for Safe Work Packs.
• Complete Examinations in line with NR_L3_CIV_065.
• Closeout any rejected exams and respond to feedback.

Overview

Are you an Earthworks Examiner with experience working on Network Rail projects?

Do you have Level 3 Competency in Network Rail's Soil Slope Examinations and Rock Slope Examinations?

This is an excellent opportunity for an Earthworks Examiner to join Network Rail to work on earthworks examinations across the NW&C region.

Rate: £427/day - Umbrella, Inside IR35

Location: Office Based - Manchester or Liverpool or Warrington - 1 day/ week remote

Duration: 6 months, potential for extension

Responsibilities

• Support the Geotechnical Examination Team to deliver activities associated with planning
• Complete Earthwork Examinations.
• Carry out 'on-site' work safely and efficiently in accordance with safe systems of work procedures, method statements, standards or other relevant instructions.
• Accurately report all work completed/not completed and produce/maintain records as required
• Adhere to company policies and procedures.
• 'Desk Based' site reconnaissance studies to understand most suitable access strategy to undertake Earthwork Examinations.
• Liaising with Access Planning teams in order to finalise plans, logistics and Safe Work Packs.
• Completion of Examinations in line with NR_L3_CIV_065.
• Closeout of any rejected exams and to respond to feedback

Requirements

• Previously assessed as Level 3 Competency in Network Rail's 'Soil Slope Examinations' (GEO-I-S) and Rock 'Slope Examinations' (GEO-I-R).
• Experience in use of JBA Database and GizMapp tool.
• Experience in producing high quality exams to CIV/065 standard
• Knowledge of relevant railway geography and network capability.
• Knowledge of railway 'Safe Systems of Work', i.e. Separated Working, Possessions, Line Blocks, Blockades, etc.)
• PTS, COSS, IWA
