Job summary

An inclusive primary school in North Bristol is seeking a dedicated Early Years Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 and small-group support to children with Autism. The role involves implementing tailored strategies, collaborating with teachers and parents, and promoting positive social interactions. Ideal candidates will have experience with Autism, demonstrate patience and creativity, and be willing to complete a DBS check. This is a full-time position during term time with a competitive daily rate.

About the School

About the Role
  • Provide 1:1 and small‑group support to pupils with Autism in the Early Years setting.
  • Implement tailored strategies to support communication, sensory regulation and engagement in learning.
  • Work closely with class teachers, the SENCO and parents to ensure consistent, child‑centred support.
  • Promote confidence, independence and positive social interaction in a safe and nurturing environment.
Ideal Candidate
  • Has experience supporting young children with Autism, ideally within an Early Years or nursery setting.
  • Is patient, nurturing and creative in their approach to SEND support.
  • Works well as part of a team and communicates effectively with staff and families.
  • Holds an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or is willing to apply for one.

  • Start Date: Mid‑January
  • Pay: £89–£95 per day (dependent on experience)
  • Hours: Full‑time, Monday‑Friday, 8:30 am–3:30 pm (term‑time only)
