Job description

As Duty Coordinator, you will lead the smooth running of the duty function within your area team, working closely with the manager on duty to ensure effective operations. You will maintain close collaboration with colleagues in the Connect to Community service to guarantee the safe and seamless transfer of individuals who draw on support. A key part of your role will be planning and overseeing the triage, delegation, and escalation of incoming enquiries for both new and existing clients. You will provide strong administrative and business leadership to the duty team, offering advice and guidance to junior colleagues and sharing knowledge across the team. Monitoring and evaluating key performance indicators will be essential to support the team's ongoing development and performance. Flexibility is important, as you may occasionally work within specialist teams or acute hospital settings to meet the operational needs of the wider service. Building effective relationships will be central to your success, as you liaise with internal departments, partner organisations, and service users to deliver high-quality, person-centred support. Finally, you will ensure that statutory duties relating to Safeguarding are discharged effectively and responsibly.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive internal candidate to join us as a Duty Coordinator (PS8). This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for service delivery, team coordination, and making a real difference to the lives of adults in Surrey. This role is ideal for a Senior Social Care Assistant or equivalent looking to take the next step in their career.

Qualification requirements
  • Advanced vocational qualification at level 4 or significant on-the-job experience
  • Experience in a health or social care setting, with a minimum of 5 GCSEs or NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent).
  • Practical knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g., Care Act, Mental Capacity Act) and the ability to apply this in practice.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage large volumes of work in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Competence in IT tools, including MS Office and database management systems.
  • A valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (reasonable adjustments will be made for individuals with a disability).
