DT Technician – Food Technology & Textiles

Location: Barking & Dagenham, East London

Start: January 2026

Contract: Full-time, Long-term (January–July 2026)

Pay: Paid weekly through PAYE

We are working with a well‑resourced secondary school in Barking & Dagenham seeking a DT Technician (Food Technology & Textiles) to assist both teachers and students. You’ll play a vital role in helping lessons run smoothly, safely, and efficiently.

What you’ll be doing:
Food Technology Support
  • Preparing ingredients and setting up cooking stations

  • Managing food stock, checking expiry dates, and ensuring safe storage

  • Maintaining hygiene standards across kitchens and equipment

  • Supporting food safety compliance

Textiles Support
  • Setting up and maintaining sewing machines and textile equipment

  • Preparing fabrics, threads, and materials for lessons

  • Assisting students with practical activities such as sewing and dyeing

  • Organising and maintaining textile resources

General Responsibilities
  • Supporting teachers and students during practical lessons

  • Ensuring compliance with health & safety, risk assessments, and COSHH

  • Managing resources, stock control, and storage areas

  • Assisting with displays, admin tasks, and day‑to‑day department needs

  • Creating a safe, positive, and well‑organised learning environment

What the school is looking for:
  • A practical, hands‑on individual with strong organisational skills

  • Good understanding of health, safety, and hygiene procedures
