We are working with a well‑resourced secondary school in Barking & Dagenham seeking a DT Technician (Food Technology & Textiles) to assist both teachers and students. You’ll play a vital role in helping lessons run smoothly, safely, and efficiently.
Preparing ingredients and setting up cooking stations
Managing food stock, checking expiry dates, and ensuring safe storage
Maintaining hygiene standards across kitchens and equipment
Supporting food safety compliance
Setting up and maintaining sewing machines and textile equipment
Preparing fabrics, threads, and materials for lessons
Assisting students with practical activities such as sewing and dyeing
Organising and maintaining textile resources
Supporting teachers and students during practical lessons
Ensuring compliance with health & safety, risk assessments, and COSHH
Managing resources, stock control, and storage areas
Assisting with displays, admin tasks, and day‑to‑day department needs
Creating a safe, positive, and well‑organised learning environment
A practical, hands‑on individual with strong organisational skills
Good understanding of health, safety, and hygiene procedures
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Confident communication skills with young people
Previous school or workshop experience is desirable but not essential
