Teacher of Design & Technology

Location: Wellingborough, Northamptonshire

Contract: Full-time / Part-time considered

The Role

We are seeking a creative and motivated Teacher of Design & Technology to join a supportive and forward-thinking secondary school in the Wellingborough area. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic practitioner who is passionate about practical learning, creativity, and developing students' problem‑solving and technical skills.

You will teach Design & Technology across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the opportunity to teach Key Stage 5 for a suitably experienced candidate.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging and practical DT lessons in line with the national curriculum
  • Teach across DT specialisms such as Resistant Materials, Product Design, Engineering, or Food Technology (depending on expertise)
  • Ensure a safe, well‑organised workshop and classroom environment, following health and safety guidance
  • Assess, track, and monitor pupil progress to inform teaching and intervention
  • Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils
  • Maintain high standards of behaviour and student engagement
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of the DT department
The Ideal Candidate
  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or is working towards it
  • Has strong subject knowledge in Design & Technology
  • Is passionate about practical, hands‑on learning
  • Demonstrates effective classroom and behaviour management
  • Works collaboratively as part of a team
  • ECTs and experienced teachers are both encouraged to apply
