Driver Development Coach
As a Driver Development Coach, you’ll be at the heart of our driver training and compliance efforts. You’ll deliver tailored training, manage CPC programmes, and provide hands‑on coaching to help drivers improve performance, reduce risk, and meet professional standards. This is a highly visible and rewarding role, perfect for someone who thrives on mentoring, problem‑solving, and making a difference on the road.
Responsibilities
- Conduct annual driver assessments and monitor compliance with DTAS, Red Tractor, and other standards
- Support safe vehicle use, load security, and operational procedures (e.g. BLACK process)
- Deliver training for new drivers, apprentices, and industry entrants
- Maintain accurate and auditable competency records
- CPC Training Management
- Plan and coordinate CPC training schedules for regional drivers
- Ensure training topics align with company needs and industry standards
- Deliver or facilitate CPC sessions via face‑to‑face and online platforms
- Performance, Risk & Safety
- Support investigations into infringements, accidents, and near misses
- Monitor telematics data (e.g. Microlise) and coach drivers to improve safety and efficiency
- Provide constructive feedback and practical coaching to reduce incidents
- Driver Support & Development
- Lead driver inductions and integrate new drivers into the business
- Provide ongoing support to apprentices and new‑to‑sector drivers
- Act as a trusted point of contact for driver training and guidance
Qualifications
- Experience as a Driver Trainer, Assessor, or senior driver with training responsibilities
- Strong knowledge of UK transport regulations and vehicle safety standards
- Proven experience delivering driver assessments and training (classroom and on‑road)
- Understanding of Driver CPC requirements and training delivery
- Full, clean UK driving licence including LGV Category C+E
- Recognised driver training qualification (e.g. RTITB, LGV Instructor) or equivalent experience
