Job summary

A regional health trust is seeking a Domestic Assistant to ensure high standards of cleanliness at its facilities. You will be responsible for maintaining hygiene in clinical and public areas, responding to cleaning needs promptly, and supporting a safe environment for patients and staff. Ideal candidates have experience in cleaning and understand health and safety protocols. This role is vital for patient care and involves following relevant cleaning guidelines.

Qualifications

We have exciting new opportunities to join our Facilities department at Furness General Hospital as a Domestic Assistant to support the Trust in delivering a clean and safe environment for patients, visitors and staff.

Responsibilities
  • Be responsible for a high standard of cleanliness in clinical areas, public areas and external areas using the appropriate recognised cleaning methods.
  • Identify areas to be cleaned, plan and organise a cleaning programme with relevant ward or departmental staff, ensuring patient, staff and visitor safety is not compromised.
  • Operate cleaning equipment and machinery in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions, ensuring it is in good, clean working order and reporting faults immediately to a supervisor.
  • Undertake deep cleans/ isolation cleans following national and local guidelines.
  • Carry out spot cleaning to ensure spillages and incidents are dealt with swiftly and efficiently, supported by clinical staff as appropriate.
  • Adhere to all relevant COSHH assessments and Safety Data Sheets when preparing, using and disposing of cleaning chemicals.
  • Support the delivery of cleaning services across hospital environments to maintain a safe and hygienic setting for patients, visitors and staff.

All our hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
