Job Summary

Are you a self‑motivated and enthusiastic individual with supervisory experience? Join our operational Facilities Management team at Pontefract Hospital and contribute to delivering excellent cleanliness standards, housekeeping, and domestic services.

Shift Pattern

37.5 hours per week – NIGHT SHIFT – Mon to Fri 20:00‑04:00

Main Duties
  • Exercise initiative and judgement to ensure an efficient, effective quality front‑of‑house service supportive to wards and outer areas.
  • Train, monitor and supervise facilities staff in all elements of their role.
  • Supervise the handling of clinical waste generated by the retained estate.
  • Work with staff teams and carry out domestic duties to cover the needs of the service.
  • Support the Trust’s Health and Safety policy, ensuring staff are trained to maintain safety.
  • Monitor areas of responsibility to ensure service standards are consistently delivered in line with National Cleaning Standards, taking remedial action as necessary.
  • Monitor catering services at ward level to ensure compliance with food safety documentation and legislation.
  • Actively support the reduction in food wastage.
  • Support Team Leaders in ensuring equipment used to deliver the service meets physical and technical standards.
  • Inform Team Leaders of ordering requirements to maintain sufficient stock levels.
  • Undertake initial investigation and reporting of untoward incidents and accidents using Datix.
  • Completion and returning of Absence Monitoring forms.
  • Ensure return to work interviews are completed timely and inform Team Leaders when an employee reaches the next stage of the Management of Sickness and Absence Policy.
  • Check and countersign clock cards weekly in preparation for payroll data entry.
  • Manage annual leave requests in a timely manner.
