Job description

Stalham Staithe Surgery is looking to welcome a qualified dispenser into our busy practice, who will play a full and active role as part of the practice multi-disciplinary team. This role is offered on a full time basis (37 hours) or part time (to be discussed).

If you are an experienced dispenser looking for an exciting new role, then we'd love to hear from you.

Main duties of the job
  • Process all relevant prescriptions and repeat prescriptions as authorised by GPs and prescribing nurses where appropriate, in accordance with the good practice principles of the Dispensing Services Quality Scheme;
  • Ensure that all medicines and appliances dispensed are checked against the prescription and whenever there is doubt about the appropriateness of the item, or about the dose or labelling instructions, to check with the authorising doctor or duty doctor;
  • Collect all due prescription charges and ensure that the patient declaration on the reverse of the FP10 is duly filled in and signed by the patient;
  • Process hospital letters;
  • Manage ordering stock and stock control;
  • Answer and deal withdispensary phone enquiries;
  • Sort and dispose of unwanted/returned medication;
  • Any other duties to assist in the smooth day to day running of the dispensary and surgery as directed by the either the dispensary manager or practice manager.

Experience
  • At least 1 years dispensary experience;

  • The confidence to work as part of a busy GP multi-disciplinary practice team and using your own initiative in decision making;

Qualifications
  • At least a Diploma Level 2/3 Dispensary or equivalent Pharmacy Services qualification;
