Title and Summary

Director - Strategic Planning

Overview

The Director of Strategic Planning will play a key role in shaping Mastercard Europe strategy and accelerating its execution. They will lead cross-functional projects developing strategic plans in partnership with different business units, identify and pursue new growth opportunities, analyze M&A opportunities, etc. The function sits within Europe Strategy & Business Excellence — a great place to learn rapidly by being exposed to the most strategic questions Mastercard Europe faces and by working with other smart and driven colleagues.

Role
  • Proactively identify opportunities for growth or improvement within the region.
  • Help regionalize Mastercard's global strategy and accelerate its execution.
  • Assist other business units in accelerating their growth strategies.
  • Lead cross-functional strategic projects for the region — from defining the problem statement to developing robust execution plans.
  • Drive change by partnering closely with different teams.

  • A problem-solver with an analytical mindset and ability to cut through noise and complexity.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams without direct reporting lines.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and drive change.
  • Quick to adapt to new topics and projects.
  • Comfortable juggling multiple projects concurrently.
  • Knowledge of payments is a strong plus.
  • Consulting background and/or experience in an in-house corporate strategy role is a plus.
