Director of IT Service Resilience – Senior Recovery Lead / Incident Management / Operational Excellence

Circa £170,000 + Benefits

Location : Birmingham or Sheffield (Hybrid)

We are partnering with a leading global financial services organisation to appoint a Director-level Senior Recovery Lead and Global Head of Service Reliability. This critical role will shape and deliver the organisation’s global recovery strategy, driving incident excellence while building long-term, enterprise-wide service resilience. You will set the vision, lead execution, and champion the cultural and engineering transformation required to achieve reliable, self‑healing systems at scale.

Key Requirements
  • Proven abilities overseeing SRE, Infrastructure, DevOps, Cloud and Technical Operations environments within complex, large‑scale organisations.
  • Significant experience leading global Site Reliability Engineering initiatives, with proven accountability for major incident response, restoring service quickly, and bringing structure, clarity and leadership to high‑pressure situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and lead a centre of excellence, embed SRE best practices across distributed engineering teams, and work closely with Problem Management and Platform Engineering to drive systemic remediation and automation.
  • Experience defining and owning resilience and recovery strategies, setting engineering standards, and influencing robust, scalable and reliable system design.
  • Deep technical expertise across infrastructure, applications and cloud‑native architectures, combined with exceptional communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with Managing Directors, CTOs and senior leadership.
