Job Description

Media Relations

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, and producers in print, radio, and television.
  • Proactively pitch policy narratives to traditional media, securing interviews, op eds, and editorial coverage.
  • Monitor and analyse companies coverage and share of voice in traditional media, providing regular reports and recommendations.

Content Creation

  • Lead the creation of high-impact press releases, opinion pieces, and media kits tailored for traditional outlets.
  • Prepare the CEO and other spokespeople for media interviews, including message development and media training if applicable.

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute targeted media strategies to amplify companies policy priorities in mainstream news.
  • Lead rapid response efforts to protect and enhance their reputation in traditional media during emerging issues.

Campaign Management

  • Plan and execute campaigns to promote the companies events, initiatives, and membership benefits.
  • Monitor digital trends and emerging platforms to ensure the company remains relevant and competitive.

Brand Management

  • Ensure brand identity is consistently represented across all marketing and communication materials.
  • Develop and implement brand guidelines and oversee their application across various platforms.

Publications Management

  • Oversee the production and distribution of all Chamber publications, including policy reports, the Annual Report, newsletters, and other printed and digital materials.
  • Ensure publications are high-quality, timely, and aligned with their branding and messaging standards.

Digital Marketing

  • Manage digital presence, including website content, social media, and email marketing.
  • Utilise digital analytics to track performance and inform data-driven decision making.

Website Management

  • Oversee the management, maintenance, and continuous improvement of website.
  • Ensure the website is user-friendly, up-to-date, and aligned with branding, values and communication standards.

Budget Management

  • Develop and manage the media, communications and marketing budget, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Monitor expenditures and report on financial performance.

Team Leadership

  • Provide leadership and guidance to the Media Adviser and the Marketing and Membership Coordinator.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment, ensuring clear communication and effective workflow.
  • Foster a culture of creativity, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage external agencies and consultants to deliver best-in-class communications support.

General Duties

  • Other general work as directed by the CEO and the Chief of Policy and Advocacy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or related field.
  • Postgraduate study desirable but not essential.

Knowledge & Interests

  • Strong interest in business issues, politics, and current affairs.

Experience

  • At least 8 years in senior communications roles, including 5+ years in management.
  • Background in Chamber or B2B environments and experience with cross‑functional teams is highly valued.
