Direct Services Technician

Join Southern Housing as a Direct Services Technician. Are you passionate about delivering high-quality property maintenance services that make a real difference to residents and communities?

We’re looking for a proactive and reliable Direct Services Technician to join our dedicated Reactive Repairs team. Reporting to a Lead Technician and/or Operations Manager, you’ll play a key role in supporting Trade Technicians and contributing to a responsive, efficient, and customer-focused maintenance service.

Working across the Isle of Wight you’ll help ensure our homes and facilities are safe, clean, and well-maintained. With a “first time fix” ethos and a commitment to excellent communication, you’ll be instrumental in meeting KPIs and delivering outstanding customer satisfaction.

  • Glazing
  • Minor Repairs
  • Graffiti Clearance
  • Grounds Maintenance
  • Office Moves
  • Groundworks (paving, bricklaying, landscaping, Jet Washing, etc)
  • Basic Carpentry, Plumbing and Decorating – generally supporting Trade Technicians as a second person
  • Support the delivery of a sector leading, resident focused, and efficient repairs, maintenance, and general caretaking service developed in association with our residents.
  • Carry out repairs, maintenance, and caretaking in accordance with current Building Regulations, Health and Safety Legislation and Association timescales; and ensure that the organisation is always fully compliant.
  • Carry out all works in accordance with policy, procedure, guidelines, and regulation.
  • Complete all necessary digital works’ orders / paperwork on time and to the required standard.
What you need
  • A proven track record of working within a Direct Labour Service, where customer satisfaction is at the heart of service delivery – two years’ experience is desired, but not essential.
  • A working knowledge of all the statutory and regulatory rules and / or codes of practice that underpin the delivery of an efficient and effective property related direct labour service.
  • Experience of a range of repairs, maintenance, and / or caretaking work.
  • A thorough understanding of and personal commitment to diversity; treating others with dignity and respect, with a real desire to understand and meet diverse customer needs and aspirations.
  • Knowledge of the requirements of the Health and Safety Act, and any other relevant legislation and / or regulatory requirements.
