Job description
Digital Structural Technician

London

Permanent

Salary - £40,000 - £50,000 (depending on experience) + Benefits

I’m working with a high-quality, design-led structural engineering practice in Central London who are looking to strengthen their in-house digital and BIM capability.

This is a genuinely interesting opportunity for someone who enjoys Revit, but is equally motivated by computational and analytical modelling. It is not a typical "Revit technician" role and will suit someone keen to work closer to engineering, data and digital workflows.

The Practice
  • Independent structural engineering consultancy, established 6 years

  • 23–25 people

  • Known for delivering large, complex projects well above their size

  • Current workload includes:

    • Multiple projects over £100m construction value

    • Many schemes in the £50–£80m range

    • A recent £300m, 620,000 sq ft commercial development in the City

  • Predominantly commercial office projects (Zone 1 & 2, London)

  • Mix of retrofit, extension and new build

  • Broad structural palette: steel, concrete and innovative timber

  • Additional work across residential (including social housing), higher education, labs and cultural buildings

  • Highly technical and design environment

Why They’re Hiring

The practice already works with a small external Revit team and has an experienced in-house BIM Lead coordinating delivery. That model has worked well, and the next step is to grow the internal team to support increasingly large and technically demanding projects.

Around 60–70% of the role will involve analytical modelling and digital workflows, rather than pure drawing production.

The Role

You’ll work closely with the BIM Lead and engineering team to:

  • Develop and manage structural Revit models

  • Create and extract analytical models from Revit

  • Support and improve digital delivery across live projects

  • Use and develop workflows in Rhino, Grasshopper and Python

  • Help drive smarter, more automated and data-led processes

  • Coordinate with external BIM resources where required

Candidate Profile

They are looking for someone with:

  • At least 2–3 years’ experience (ideally 5–6 years)

  • Strong Revit experience within structural engineering

  • A clear interest in digital design, computation and analysis

  • Experience with (or strong interest in) Rhino / Grasshopper / Python

  • A proactive, engaged approach and enthusiasm for improving workflows

  • Comfort working independently within a small, collaborative team

Working Style & Culture
  • Primarily work-from-office, with flexibility where needed

  • Relaxed, supportive culture

  • No micromanagement

  • People here are trusted to manage their own time and workload

Office & Location
  • Based near Blackfriars tube station

  • Large studio space (they are also the engineers redeveloping the building)

  • Committed to staying in this area, with short-term office plans underway

Benefits & Package
  • Competitive salary (open for the right person)

  • Pension: 8% employer / 5% employee

  • 25 days annual leave

  • Target 10% bonus, paid in summer and winter (historically paid)

  • 6 months full-pay maternity leave

  • 4 weeks paid paternity leave

  • Monthly in-office events (technical talks, industry sessions or socials)

  • + more!
