Job description

Do you know how to grow reach, build following, and turn content into real - world engagement.

Can you spark conversations and build relationships that get people booking, sharing, and coming back for more?

We’re Intelligent Media a small, but mighty, well-established, publishing and B2B events company based in London. For over 20 years, we’ve supported school business professionals across the UK through our magazine (Education Executive), our website and newsletters, and through our expanding series of live events, EdExec LIVE.

Following strong growth and a successful pivot to an events-led model, we’re scaling fast, taking our events from 3 locations in 2024, to 8 in 2025 and 12+ locations in 2026. We now need a proactive and confident Digital Marketing & Community Growth Executive to lead on organic growth, community engagement, and conversion predominantly via our social media platforms and help us reach wider audiences in creative, strategic and persuasive ways.

Who this role is perfect for?

You might be a social media executive or junior marketer who’s already managing channels and is looking to step into a more autonomous role. Or perhaps you’re a confident communicator with skills and experience in sales and marketing, ready to take full ownership of audience engagement and bring together marketing, content and community building in one role.

This is a hybrid marketing‑comms role where you’ll combine the core digital marketing competencies; channel management, content adaptation and performance tracking - with a more outward‑facing style of communication. Whilst this is a marcomms role, it does require someone confident to follow up with warm contacts and convert interest into action, as well as to attend online meetings with interested stakeholders and potential partners, and of course happy attending our events in person to meet stakeholders and delegates in person and to lead the social media and marcomms for the day.

You will be the only dedicated marcomms lead in the team, working directly with the CEO, and working closely with a talented and supportive team of editorial, design, commercial and events colleagues. Building on the existing marketing platforms and communications in place, you will own delivery of the full marcomms function, from planning and delivery to reporting and refinement. Its a chance to grow and deliver high‑impact growth, with ownership and visibility across the business.

What You’ll Be Doing

Build and grow digital presence

  • Own our Linked‑In strategy - posting, growing reach, engaging users and improving visibility
  • Maintain and develop our Meta platforms (Instagram/Facebook), plus occasional YouTube/X use
  • Drive social content forward - using existing editorial and event content in creative ways
  • Work with the team to ensure platforms reflect live priorities, upcoming events and campaigns

Write and adapt content

  • Adapt existing content, interviews, and speaker features into engaging social formats
  • Write compelling outreach emails and messages tailored to target audiences
  • Ensure key messaging is clear, consistent and focused on the value we offer

Proactively grow audience & bookings

  • Identify and reach out to key contacts in trusts and schools, following up on campaigns
  • Engage with individuals 1:1 to explain the value of attending our events (via Linked‑In/email/phone)
  • Nurture and grow a strong delegate community across email and social platforms
  • Help convert awareness into interest, and interest into bookings

Own email marketing

  • Design (with support of our graphic designer) and send campaigns via Hubspot, GetResponse, or similar tools
  • Monitor open rates, CTRs, sign‑ups and deliverability to keep improving performance

Use tools, track results

  • Confidently manage workflows using Monday.com, Pipedrive, Canva and AI tools like ChatGPT
  • Track KPIs and optimise content using platform analytics, UTM codes, and performance dashboards
  • Report back with clear, actionable insights, and keep evolving based on what works
Skills & Experience You’ll Need
  • 13 years experience in B2B social media, digital marketing, communications
  • Strong working knowledge of LinkedIn and familiarity with Meta tools
  • Clear, confident writing skills across email and social platforms
  • Comfortable using Canva and similar tools to adapt and create digital assets
  • Familiar with email marketing systems like HubSpot, GetResponse, ActiveCampaign etc
  • Capable with CRMs, planning and project tools (e.g. Monday.com, Pipedrive, Trello)
  • Comfortable with outreach and follow‑up, and motivated by results (e.g. bookings, sign‑ups, growth)
  • Able to work independently, prioritise, and own your area of work
  • Not afraid of the phone! You’ll need to follow up with people directly to encourage bookings
  • Confident working across multiple priorities, brands and projects
  • A bonus: interest in education, events, publishing or the public sector
Why you’ll love working with us
  • A small, supportive team with a genuine sense of purpose
  • A creative, fast moving company where ideas become action
  • A role that combines strategy, content and people‑facing activity
  • Autonomy to shape how you work and where you add most value
  • Regular in‑person collaboration at our Shoreditch office
  • Up to 12 events per year (UK‑wide) travel fully covered
  • 23 days core annual leave + 7 bank holidays
  • Up to 7 additional days paid leave for event attendance
  • Option to take up to 21 extra unpaid days for balance or travel
  • Hybrid working a mix of remote and London office time
  • Annual bonus scheme

We’re flexible in how we work and how we support you. If something’s important to you, let’s talk about it and see how we can shape the role around it.
