Diagnostic Technician

Location: Solihull

Salary: up to £34,000 basic per annum plus bonus and overtime, OTE £50,000

Hours: Monday to Friday, Saturdays on rota, paid as overtime

Role Overview
  • Diagnose and repair vehicle issues, including engine, transmission, brakes, suspension, and electrical systems
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks (e.g., oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections)
  • Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve complex problems
  • Maintain accurate records of all work and parts used
  • Communicate with customers about vehicle issues and recommend appropriate repairs
  • Keep the work area clean and well‑organised
  • Stay current with the latest automotive technologies and repair techniques
Qualifications
  • Proven experience as a Vehicle Technician, with a relevant qualification (e.g., NVQ or City & Guilds Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair)
  • MOT qualification is a significant advantage
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent diagnostic skills
  • Must have a well equipped toolbox appropriate for workshop duties
