Are you passionate about technology, sports, and media? Do you thrive in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment? If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you! We're seeking a new DevOps Engineer to join our UK‑based team of 6. You'll be at the forefront of driving our digital content infrastructure, products, and services forward. Providing a professional and proactive service aligned with business needs in an ITIL best practice‑focused Operations team is key to this role.

Your responsibilities include offering DevOps collaborative assistance, supporting development teams with day‑to‑day tasks within the development, stage, and UAT environments before release to production. Your success in this role directly contributes to the improvements and evolution of Racing Post newspaper production, website, and digital content infrastructure, products, and services. We also value your experience in hands‑on implementation of DevOps practices at scale.

We're looking for someone inquisitive, keen to learn, and proactive, especially as this is a London based role (hybrid with 3 days in the office, 2 from home). In this exciting position, you'll have Research and Development (R&D) opportunities, exploring new technologies for the company to generate new knowledge that might be used to create innovative technology, products, services, or systems. Excellent communication skills are essential for effective stakeholder interaction.

  • Strong technical foundations and experience with AWS
  • Linux/Unix server administration
  • Experience with infrastructure‑as‑code and configuration management tools (e.g. Ansible, Terraform)
  • Strong understanding of DevOps concepts (performance monitoring, autoscaling, failover, redundancy, traffic analysis)
  • Efficiently skilled using containers and containerisation architecture (e.g. Docker, AWS ECS)
  • Experience with CI/CD systems (e.g. Jenkins, GitLab)
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools, such as, Grafana and DataDog
  • Comfortable in at least one of the following programming languages (Python, Go, Groovy)
  • Experience using source control (BitBucket, Git) and feature branching strategies
  • Network configuration and troubleshooting
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to clearly document work
  • Familiarity with CDN architecture and services

While the above skills are essential, it would be fantastic if you also had:

  • Experience with web delivery workflows
  • Understanding of WAF technologies
  • Familiarity of microservices architectures

We offer a range of well‑being initiatives, including private medical insurance, excellent parental leave, a working globally policy, mental health support, assistance programs, and social gatherings. We also provide a pension scheme and various other benefit schemes. Plus, we all get our birthdays off work and enjoy 25 days of holiday per year.

We’ve also got you covered with life assurance and exclusive perks like the Star card and our Step Further Awards (our employee recognition program) to recognise your dedication. For those working via the hybrid model (in the office and at home) we’ve made commuting easier with our Season Ticket Loan and Cycle to Work Scheme.

You can also take advantage of complimentary access to our Racing Post Members Club, complete with an Ultimate Membership. We believe in making a positive impact beyond the workplace, and you'll have the chance to volunteer two days per year with our charity partner.
