Overview

Clevedon | Up to £55,000 | Hybrid (3 days office / 2 days home)

We"re supporting a leading engineering business in Clevedon with their search for a Design Team Lead. This is a fantastic opportunity to combine hands-on design expertise with team leadership, working on next-generation power and control systems.

The Role

As Design Team Lead, you\'ll report to the Technical Manager, overseeing the day-to-day activities of the design team while also contributing directly to projects. You\'ll collaborate across departments, drive new product development, and provide technical guidance to your team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and support a small design team (planning, daily stand-ups, mentoring, training & development).
  • Design, develop and support power and control circuits (digital & analogue).
  • Take projects through the full lifecycle: schematics, layout, proof of concept, testing, approvals & delivery.
  • Drive new product development and continuous improvement of existing products.
  • Collaborate with production, test and service teams to ensure design for manufacture, test and serviceability.
  • Provide technical leadership in design reviews, product strategy, and customer application guidance.
  • Stay up to date with the latest technologies and regulations (ISO9001, ISO14001, EMC, RoHS etc.).
What We\'re Looking For
  • Degree in Power Electronics, Embedded Electronics, Embedded Systems or equivalent.
  • Strong hardware/system design experience, including schematic & PCB layout.
  • Skilled in fault finding, problem solving and using electronic test equipment.
  • Experience with OrCAD (or similar PCB design tools).
  • Understanding of embedded systems/firmware would be an advantage.
  • Previous leadership or mentoring experience desirable.
