Design Engineer

Location: Redditch, United Kingdom. Salary £30,000 - £32,000. Permanent. 4-day week, Monday to Thursday. Friendly, supportive team in a well-established manufacturing company with a large product range and plenty of long‑term prospects.

About the role

We are seeking a Design Engineer to develop new products, improve existing designs, and work closely with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to deliver high‑quality engineering solutions for aerospace, defence, and marine sectors.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop new product concepts through to final production designs.
  • Modify and improve existing products as directed by the Engineering Manager.
  • Liaise with customers and suppliers to support product development.
  • Provide initial design concepts to support the Sales team.
  • Work closely with Production to ensure efficient assembly and manufacture.
  • Contribute to cost‑reduction initiatives and engineering improvement projects.
Qualifications
  • Experience using 2D/3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Basic understanding of GD&T.
  • Ability to carry out tolerance stack calculations.
  • Some exposure to a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and manage time effectively.
