Overview

Design and Research Assistant

Notts Sport is recruiting a Design and Research Assistant to join its Technical team. The role involves producing visual and technical drawings for the Cricket, ChildsPlay and Export departments, and working with current lead CAD Technicians. The position includes testing sports pitches, writing professional reports, and using analytical skills to assist in developing new products. All development testing and reporting will align with Notts Sport’s commitment to sustainable product solutions and ISO 9001 quality standards.

You will be a friendly, professional person trusted by clients and colleagues, with the ability to manage your time effectively and meet job demands, which may include occasional overnight stays during the working week. Technical experience of artificial turf pitches and testing is preferred but training can be provided. CAD experience is preferred, with training available from staff or externally.

The role is split approximately 60% on high-quality drawings, 30% testing new products and conducting regular quality control testing on existing products, and 10% on-site pitch testing. The role is office-based for most of the week but may require time on the road visiting new and existing sports pitches across mainland UK.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare, amend and issue technical drawings/models for wider departments such as Cricket, ChildsPlay and Export, under the guidance of Team Leader
  • Undertake quality control testing & reports for ChildsPlay and Export departments
  • Assist with in-house testing, and on-site survey/testing work where appropriate
  • Take instructions from Team Leader, Technical Department and senior staff
  • Carry out general administration and support tasks
  • Comply with all Health & Safety requirements and practices
Qualifications, skills and competencies
  • Minimum GCSE grades at C-level or above in Maths, English, and Science
  • Preferably some experience in drawing production and product development
  • Experience with AutoCAD or Autodesk Revit is preferable
  • Good written communication to annotate drawings and complete technical reports
  • Strong communication skills to present drawings and technical reports
  • Self-motivated with good time management
  • Reliable team member
  • Interest in personal development and career progression through further training

Working Hours: This is a full-time role. Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm
