An NHS foundation trust is seeking an experienced surgical nurse to support the ward manager in providing high standards of patient care on a surgical ward. Responsibilities include leading emergency responses, coordinating staffing, and ensuring compliance with policies. The role involves working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver optimal care for patients undergoing various surgical procedures.
To assist the ward manager in creating and maintaining an environment in which the ward team can contribute to the maximum of their ability, delivering an excellent high standard of safe patient care, staff welfare and staff education/training.
This job is for an experienced surgical nurse who will deputise the ward manager in the running of our surgical specialties ward, which treats adult patients undergoing orthopaedic procedures/operations/investigations including joint replacements, upper limb surgery, foot surgery, sports injuries and minor ambulatory trauma surgery.
The Captain Sir Tom Moore Building is part of a cold site and is the main ward for orthopaedic surgery and treatment services on the Halton General Hospital campus. The centre provides surgery ranging from hand and foot operations to hip replacement operations, along with sports injuries and other bone and joint care. It is located across from the main Nightingale Building. The centre was purpose-built for orthopaedic surgery and has a history of NHS/private collaboration and teaching activities. The majority of emergency care and complex surgical care is based at Warrington Hospital, with the Nightingale Building in Runcorn acting as a centre of excellence for routine surgery. The Captain Sir Tom Moore Building houses orthopaedic services. The organisation has a CQC rating of 'good' with 'outstanding' features and is progressing toward university hospital status, having achieved teaching hospital status in 2019.
