If so, we are looking for a Deputy Engineering Manager to assist the Engineering Manager in the day to day management of the engineering function at our Rainham garage in east London. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our fleet of buses are maintained to the standard required by the Company, TfL and the DVSA. Your role as deputy engineering manager is not just about achieving maximum vehicle availability and continually improving standards, you will also have a direct influence on Health & Safety compliance/culture, fatigue management and employee wellbeing.

You should have a thorough understanding of mechanical engineering and vehicle maintenance procedures for large vehicles, preferably PCVs, as well as knowledge of electrical engineering, bodywork construction and basic stores procedures. The post holder should have the ability to gain a Transport CPC, if requested to do so. You’ve probably seen some of our buses driving around east London, transporting our fantastic customers around the area. Those customers rely on our services to get them to work, to the high street, to hospitals, to days away and nights out – and as part of our engineering management team you’ll be key to making sure our vehicles are in tip top condition to do just that. It’s a really important role within our garage, so we’ll make sure you’re as looked after as our vehicles are!

So, if you have an engineering supervisory or management background working with large vehicles, then we can’t wait to receive your application!

Benefits
  • Great benefits including a competitive salary of £63,609.80 per annum with a further shift allowance of £3,648.95 per annum, company pension scheme, free financial education and affordable loans, and finally a range of money-saving opportunities including discounts on holidays and retail, cinema outings, dental insurance, vehicle breakdown cover and hotels and attractions. You will be required to work any 5 days out of 7 on a shift basis.
  • Free travel for you and a household member on TfL bus and rail services (this is a non-contractual benefit) and outside London there is free travel for you and a companion on Stagecoach buses.
  • UK-wide opportunities, career development and secondment opportunities to work elsewhere in our UK business. if you’re happy working as a Deputy Engineering Manager then that’s absolutely fine by us…but if you do want to progress we’ll support you every step of the way. You will be given exposure to work which will develop your skills and experience to allow you to progress your management career further.
  • An employee assistance programme to support health and wellbeing through a confidential service available 24 hours a day, which provides specialist guidance and assistance on a range of personal and work-related issues, from dealing with stress and anxiety to managing financial, marital or legal issues.
