Job description

As an Apprentice Dental Nurse, you'll support clinicians to deliver a range of high-quality dental treatments and help the smooth running of the practice. You will be part of a team that is passionate about caring for patients and helping the nation smile. Alongside your role, you will achieve a level 3 in Dental Nursing.

Responsibilities
  • Reception duties: answering phones, greeting patients, taking payments, booking appointments and follow‑ups.
  • Preparing and sterilising equipment and instruments for dentists.
  • Managing patient records, charting and radiographs.
  • Providing chairside support and handling dental materials.
  • Managing patient anxiety and delivering effective communication and behavioural techniques.
  • Carrying out infection control and decontamination procedures.
  • Monitoring for and responding to medical emergencies.
  • Delivering preventive dental advice and oral health promotion to patients and carers.
  • Collaborating with the dental team to plan and support treatment pathways.
  • Adopting an evidence‑based approach to clinical practice and risk assessment.
  • Maintaining patient confidentiality and statutory record keeping.
  • Supporting patients with acute oral conditions and coordinating specialist referrals.
  • Contributing to quality improvement and professional development activities.
  • Ensuring a safe, clean and well‑equipped clinical environment.

  • Salary £14,918.80 – £24,126.96 (dependent on age); National Minimum Wage checked.
