As an Apprentice Dental Nurse, you'll support clinicians to deliver a range of high-quality dental treatments and help the smooth running of the practice. You will be part of a team that is passionate about caring for patients and helping the nation smile. Alongside your role, you will achieve a level 3 in Dental Nursing.
Responsibilities
- Reception duties: answering phones, greeting patients, taking payments, booking appointments and follow‑ups.
- Preparing and sterilising equipment and instruments for dentists.
- Managing patient records, charting and radiographs.
- Providing chairside support and handling dental materials.
- Managing patient anxiety and delivering effective communication and behavioural techniques.
- Carrying out infection control and decontamination procedures.
- Monitoring for and responding to medical emergencies.
- Delivering preventive dental advice and oral health promotion to patients and carers.
- Collaborating with the dental team to plan and support treatment pathways.
- Adopting an evidence‑based approach to clinical practice and risk assessment.
- Maintaining patient confidentiality and statutory record keeping.
- Supporting patients with acute oral conditions and coordinating specialist referrals.
- Contributing to quality improvement and professional development activities.
- Ensuring a safe, clean and well‑equipped clinical environment.

Apprenticeship Details
- Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in Dental Nursing, accredited by City & Guilds.
- Duration 1 year 6 months (38 hours per week).
- Start date Wednesday 21 January 2026.
- Training delivered blended (online e‑learning + in‑practice).
- Salary £14,918.80 – £24,126.96 (dependent on age); National Minimum Wage checked.
