Overview

Staffordshire Community Dental Service

Registered Dental Nurse – Full Time

Hours of work: 37.5 hours per week (occasional out-of-hours sessions and travel to other sites). Post includes alternate Saturday mornings 09:00–12:45 and alternate Friday afternoons – non-working.

Band 4 • Location: Dental Dept, Ryecroft Health Centre, Newcastle, Staffordshire ST5 2BQ.

Training opportunities available. Qualification in Dental Nursing is essential; Certificate in Dental Sedation Nursing is desirable but not essential.

Responsibilities

• The Dental Nurse role provides full clinical support for the Community Dental Service and manages daily operational procedures in designated clinics.
• Work alongside the Dental Surgeon as part of a dedicated team and may travel between centres to support multiple dental surgeons.
• Evening, weekend and bank holiday work is required to support the out-of-hours emergency dental service.

Requirements

Essential

• Qualification in Dental Nursing
• GDC Registration
• Evidence of continual professional development
• Understanding of the dental needs of the population of Staffordshire
• Experience of working in the General Dental Service (GDS)
• Experience with a wide range of patient groups and as part of a team
• Experience of organising and maintaining dental surgerys/surgeries
• Good infection control and decontamination procedures
• Competent clinical skills across a wide range of procedures
