Overview

The Defendant Personal Injury Solicitor (EL/PL) position offers a busy, technically challenging role where every case you receive is litigious. This is a great opportunity to join a well-resourced team and focus entirely on complex defence work. The role comes with strong benefits and no business development expectations.

Client Details

This is a well-established, defence team with strong retailer-facing experience. The team comprises around 17 staff, including six litigators, and has deep expertise in managing employers and public liability claims from large corporate clients. The culture emphasises technical excellence, collaboration, and continuity.

Responsibilities

• Managing complex Employer's Liability (EL) and Public Liability (PL) claims exclusively from a claims handler, so every case is litigious.
• Acting for major retail clients.
• Working effectively within a team of six litigators and broader support staff.
• Delivering efficient, client-focused defence strategies.
• Maintaining high standards of professional knowledge across EL/PL litigation.

Qualifications

• A solicitor (or equivalent) with solid experience defending personal injury claims, specifically in EL and PL.
• At least 2 years' PQE, preferably in a complex defence setting.
• Confident handling high-stakes, litigated caseloads with minimal oversight.
• Collaborative, technically adept, and comfortable working entirely on defended matters.
