About the Role

Bury Council is seeking a skilled and experienced Multi Skilled Decorator to join our Housing Repairs team. You’ll be responsible for delivering high-quality painting and decorating services across council homes and public buildings, including responsive repairs, planned maintenance, void property reinstatement, and capital investment projects.

This is a hands-on role requiring a proactive approach, excellent customer service, and the ability to work independently across a range of sites.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out painting, decorating, and associated multi-skilled tasks.
  • Operate and maintain tools, equipment, and IT systems (e.g., PDA/iPad).
  • Diagnose repair issues and communicate effectively with planners.
  • Ensure safe working practices and compliance with Health & Safety policies.
  • Manage stock levels and maintain council vehicles.
  • Deliver excellent customer service and represent Bury Council professionally.
  • Participate in the out-of-hours emergency repairs rota.
What We’re Looking For
Essential
  • Time-served Painting & Decorating Apprenticeship
  • NVQ in multiskilling or equivalent experience
  • Experience in building maintenance and multi-skilled tasks
  • Full UK Driving Licence (CPC & Tachograph Licence if driving 7.5-tonne vehicles)
  • Strong communication and fault diagnosis skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
Desirable
  • CSCS Card
  • Hiab Certificate (training provided)
  • ICT skills (e.g., PDA usage)
  • Knowledge of public building maintenance
