Job summary

A specialized renovation firm is seeking a skilled Decorator to carry out high-quality decoration and tiling works focusing on customer satisfaction and efficiency. This is a 12-week temporary contract offering £20 per hour, with the possibility of extension. Qualifications

  • Wash down and treat mould and damp according to guidelines.
  • Manage workload effectively and maintain communication with the scheduling team.
  • Follow health & safety legislation and procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with the trade team.

Skills

Decorator
  • Pay: £20 per hour
  • Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Location: Yeovil/Somerset
  • Contract: 12-week temporary contract, with potential to move to a 6-month fixed-term

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Decorator to carry out high-quality decoration and tiling works across our properties. You will deliver excellent standards of workmanship, ensure customer satisfaction, and complete tasks efficiently using the correct materials and specifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out decoration and tiling works to our properties efficiently and to a high standard, following specifications and using correct products.
  • Wash down and treat mould and damp in line with manufacturer guidelines, including external cleaning of windows, doors, soffits and fascias.
  • Complete minor repairs to walls to enable tiling, and on external works carry out minor repairs to timber‑framed windows, doors, porches, guttering and fascias.
  • Manage your workload effectively, attend appointments within agreed timeslots and maintain strong communication with the scheduling team.
  • Follow all health & safety legislation, policies and procedures, including safe use of equipment, PPE, COSHH, risk assessments and method statements.
  • Complete work in the most cost‑effective manner, pre‑ordering materials when required and keeping customers informed of progress.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider trade team, supporting colleagues where needed.
  • Use a smartphone and tablet to record job information, progress updates, materials used and timesheets accurately.
  • Attend meetings, training and take an active role in professional and personal development.
  • Undertake any additional reasonable duties relevant to the role.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required
  • City & Guilds qualification in Tiling and/or Painting & Decorating (advanced craft level),
  • or NVQ Level 2 in Tiling or Painting & Decorating,
  • or equivalent time‑served experience.
  • Previous experience carrying out tiling and decorating within a housing organisation or contractor environment.
  • Strong understanding of policies, procedures and technical requirements for repairs, tiling and redecoration work.
  • Experience working as part of a trade team and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.
