This role involves operating Getinge washer disinfectors and drying cabinets, ensuring the safe reprocessing of surgical instruments, and collaborating with clinical teams. Ideal candidates should be flexible, reliable, and possess hands-on experience with infection control protocols. This position offers ad hoc shifts from Monday to Sunday, contributing to patient safety and efficiency in healthcare services.

Qualifications

  • Trained using a Getinge washer with certificates.
  • Trained using a drying cabinet with certificates.
  • Minimum 6 months experience as a Decontamination Technician within the last 12 months.

Responsibilities

  • Operate Getinge washer disinfectors and drying cabinets following Trust protocols.
  • Clean, inspect, and pack surgical instruments for sterilisation.
  • Ensure accurate use of tracking systems and documentation.

We are currently seeking experienced Decontamination Technicians to join our team on an insourcing basis, supporting NHS Trusts. You will play a vital role in the safe and efficient reprocessing of surgical instruments, working with our partner hospitals to reduce waiting lists and support patient safety.

This role is ideal for candidates who are flexible, reliable, and confident working in new environments and who have hands-on experience with Getinge washer disinfectors and drying cabinets.

Main duties of the job

Operate Getinge washer disinfectors and drying cabinets in line with Trust protocols and national decontamination standards

Clean, inspect, and pack surgical instruments for sterilisation

Ensure accurate use of tracking systems and documentation

Adhere to infection prevention and control policies

Work collaboratively with the wider clinical team in a fast-paced setting
