Job description

The Day Programs Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides individual and group supervision and instruction to people with developmental disabilities through the facilitation of scheduled activities and provides outstanding internal and external customer service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide ongoing meaningful engagement activities or opportunities per client choice. Encourage active participation in activities.
  • Support individuals in participating in community activities, recreational outings, employment, and skill-building programs.
  • Implement individualized service plans and behavioral support strategies as directed.
  • Promote dignity, respect, and choice in all interactions.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and supportive environment in compliance with agency standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Complete required documentation accurately and in a timely manner (e.g., progress notes, incident reports, medication logs).
  • Assist with daily habilitation and personal care as needed.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies and follow all safety procedures and protocols. Provide crisis intervention as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with individuals, families, team members, and supervisors.
  • Attend all required trainings, meetings, and professional development sessions
  • Provide non-medical transportation for clients and provide assistance as needed.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2 years previous experience in direct care, human services, or related field preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Valid driver’s license with less than 6 points.
Working Conditions
  • Work is performed in community settings, or day program environments.
  • Requires the ability to perform physical tasks and respond to emergencies.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to implement behavior support procedures (PBSCI).
