Job Description

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and installing mechanical and building services equipment. You will work closely with the client and internal teams to uphold high standards of safety, compliance, and service excellence, while contributing to innovative solutions and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled inspections, preventative and corrective maintenance, repairs, adjustments, and troubleshooting of mechanical equipment in line with codes and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Detect and diagnose faults in mechanical systems, dismantle devices, and replace defective parts as required.
  • Test and calibrate systems using precision instruments to ensure optimal performance.
  • Plan and lay out work assignments, determining appropriate methods, techniques, and materials.
  • Comply with all relevant safety regulations, codes, and company policies.
  • Manage time effectively, prioritising tasks and responding to urgent requests.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs, including work orders and material estimates.
  • Oversee contractor activities, including issuing Permits to Work and ensuring standards are met.
Professional and Personal Competencies / Qualifications
  • NVQ Level 2 or City & Guilds in Mechanical Engineering (1788 or equivalent).
  • Experience in mechanical building services maintenance, including fault finding, installation, and inspection / testing.
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety procedures, risk assessments, and method statements.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage ambiguity effectively.
  • Full UK driving licence (role includes company van).
