As a Data Science Manager at National Grid, you’ll lead a high‑performing team while staying hands‑on – delivering impactful projects, building AI models, coding, and turning data into clear, actionable insights. What You'll Do
  • Lead and inspire a team of talented Data Scientists, helping them grow their skills while driving high‑impact work across the organisation.
  • Build advanced analytics and AI solutions using machine learning, statistical modelling, forecasting, and simulation techniques to solve complex, real‑world challenges.
  • Unlock the power of data by bringing together information from multiple sources and formats, creating robust datasets that fuel insight and innovation.
  • Drive and deliver projects that span the entire enterprise – collaborating across the UK and US, and partnering with teams in Gas, Electric, and all major support functions.
  • Stay curious and keep pushing boundaries – we’re constantly exploring new ideas, new technologies, and new ways to shape the future of energy through data.
About You
  • Demonstrable experience in Data Science, ideally with exposure to the utility or energy sector.
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop Data Scientists, guiding teams to deliver high‑quality, impactful work.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills, able to work effectively with end users, peers, and senior leaders.
  • A knack for making the complex simple, translating technical concepts into clear business insights and recommendations.
  • Fluency in Data Science techniques across statistics, machine learning, and GenAI.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and SQL, with the ability to build reliable, scalable solutions.
  • Experience working in cloud environments on Linux and/or Windows platforms (Azure experience is a plus).
  • A strong track record delivering the full lifecycle of Data Science products and projects.
  • Experience working within regulated utility environments.
  • Experimental design experience and a hypothesis‑driven mindset.
  • Familiarity with interactive visualisation tools (Power BI a plus).
  • Knowledge of GIS tools, such as ArcGIS.
What You'll Get
  • Competitive Salary: £78,000 – £91,000 per annum (based on capability, and experience)

More information
  • This role is offered on a full time basis.
  • We are also offering hybrid /flexible working where travel to the office will be as per business need – 1/2 day per week on average. Base location for this role will be NG House, Warwick.
