Qualifications

  • Solid understanding of Data Governance best practices and frameworks.
  • Proven ability to autonomously lead key governance activities.
  • Practical experience designing governance services and frameworks.
  • Ability to prioritize work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience leading or supporting team members and collaboration.
  • Excellent communication skills with both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Capable of producing clear MI and confident in governance forums.
  • Deep hands-on expertise in Collibra, including workflows.

The Opportunity

QBE Europe is currently recruiting two data governance specialists to join a well‑established Data & Analytics team in our London Office. In this position you will be responsible for developing and providing high quality Data Governance capabilities across QBE European Operations.

Your new role
  • Support the Data Governance Manager to define and deliver the EO data governance strategy, roadmap and operating model, ensuring risks are anticipated and mitigated.
  • Own and run core governance processes (policy embedment, accountability model, glossary/CDEs, lineage, waivers/UDA governance), producing clear MI and metrics for governance forums.
  • Maintain quality documentation of end‑to‑end governance processes and ensure regulatory alignment (e.g., Solvency II).
  • Translate business needs into actionable governance requirements; specify and implement process and platform changes; embed outcomes into BAU.
  • Build strong relationships across business and technology, through effective verbal and written communication, tailoring messaging to business and technology audiences.
  • Coach Data Owners and Stewards and support project teams with practical guidance and SME input.
  • Develop and deliver awareness, training and communications to lift data literacy and adoption across EO.
  • Monitor industry best practice (e.g., DMBOK), internal policy, and regulatory requirements, championing a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Support Data Governance team members across all DG activities.
  • One of these roles will be responsible for the continued rollout and adoption of Collibra, including working closely with the Product team to define operating models, and design and develop workflows.
About you
  • Strong experience operating in complex, regulated environments, ideally with insurance or Lloyd's market exposure.
  • Solid understanding of Data Governance best practices and industry frameworks such as DAMA and DCAM.
  • Proven ability to autonomously lead key activities such as identifying Critical Data Elements in complex data environments.
  • Practical experience designing and enhancing governance services (policy adoption, Data Catalogue/CDE frameworks, ownership & stewardship, lineage).
  • Ability to prioritise work effectively and deliver to deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience leading or supporting team members and contributing to a collaborative, high performing culture.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation and presentation skills, able to engage both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Capable of producing clear, concise MI and metrics, and confident presenting into governance forums.
  • Strongly desirable: Deep hands‑on Collibra expertise, including operating model design, workflow development, and training delivery.
