Job description

Portsmouth Water are delighted to have an opening for a Data & Analytics Lead to join our growing IT department on an 18-month fixed-term contract. In this role you will be responsible for refining and delivering our data strategy by improving the availability, quality and use of data across the business.

Responsibilities
  • Refine and deliver the data strategy and improve data availability, quality and use.
  • Review the data playbook and implement improvements.
  • Plan and roll out elements of the data playbook.
  • Define roles and capabilities needed to support the data platform, including Data Owners and Data Governance.
  • Scope out technical changes needed on data integration, analytics and visualisation tools and work with data engineers to test and validate the solution.
  • Set up data governance forums to align the data analyst community and business areas.
  • Engage with each business area, onboard them onto the data platform and identify data sources and biggest data challenges.
  • Identify training requirements for the different data roles.
Experience & Qualifications
  • Experience running data and analytics teams.
  • Evidence of improving the use of data across a business.
  • Experience of Microsoft Azure, Databricks, Power BI and SQL.
  • Strong knowledge of data governance, data architecture and modern analytics tools.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, especially helping different business areas understand their data needs.
  • Experience in implementing self‑serve data solutions.
