Damp and Mould Operative - Social Housing Maintenance

Location: Bishops Stortford

Salary: £19 per hour (PAYE, temporary), rising to £38,500 when permanent

Type: Temp-to-Perm

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and reliable Damp and Mould Operative to join a team delivering day‑to‑day reactive maintenance across social housing properties. The role primarily covers Bishops Stortford and surrounding areas. This is a hands‑on role, ideal for someone who takes pride in their work and enjoys solving Damp and Mould Issues.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Carry out thorough inspections of residents' homes to identify the sign of damp, mould, condensation and associated structural issues.
  • Diagnose root causes such as leaks, poor ventilation or rising damp and recommend appropriate remedial actions.
  • Complete damp and mould treatment works such as washing, treating and sealing affected surfaces.
  • Apply specialist mould treatments, fungicidal washes, paints or coatings following safety and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Ensure all works meets health, safety and quality standards.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a Damp and Mould Operative.
  • Strong social housing background.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
