Job description
Responsibilities
  1. Act as the primary export contact for all in-transit customs issues concerning containers or vehicles, actively resolving commodity code queries and directly liaising with customs agents and authorities to address and rectify problems swiftly.
  2. Proactively identify potential transit challenges and implement effective solutions in collaboration with customs agents and carriers to ensure the seamless movement of goods across borders.
  3. Ensure all information provided by overseas agents is meticulously accurate, and meets the stringent requirements for Customs Entry, preventing delays and non-compliance.
  4. Conduct regular and targeted audits of customs entries, which includes monthly sampling of import and export documentation, verifying accuracy against paperwork, and scrutinizing classification, origin and declared value for correct tax and duty payments.
  5. Perform targeted audits specifically focused on commodity code classification to guarantee adherence to regulations and minimize financial discrepancies.
  6. Compile detailed audit findings into comprehensive reports for management sign-off and present these critical insights to senior stakeholders, informing strategic decisions and ensuring accountability in all areas.

We’re seeking clear communicators and sharp analytical experts who can provide their specialised knowledge on navigating global commerce, whilst preventing compliance issues.

  1. Experienced: You possess strong Customs and International Trade experience. Experience working in distribution centre environments is desirable.
  2. Dynamic: You are adaptable and able to re-prioritize conflicting tasks swiftly.
  3. Independent: You work autonomously, making measured judgements and solving problems proactively.
  4. Confident Communicator: You effectively communicate, influence, and motivate internal and external stakeholders.
  5. Meticulous: You possess high attention to detail, critically analyzing documentation.
  6. Problem Solver: You conduct root cause investigations taking ownership and contributing innovative solutions.
  7. Organized: You think proactively with a clear understanding of the broader picture.
  8. Self-Motivated: You are self-motivated and eager to learn.
  9. Technologically Adept: You are proficient in IT Skills, including confident email communication and proven experience with Microsoft Excel.
