Job Title: Customer Service Technicain
Salary: £26,000 per annum + performance bonus
Hours: Monday - Friday, 08:30 - 17:00
Location: Thatcham
Holidays: 25 days annual leave

We are recruiting on behalf of our client for a Customer Service Technicain to join a well-established optical and astronomical products operation. This is a warehouse-based, hands-on technical support role, ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving, repairs, and customer interaction.

Key Responsibilities for the Customer Service Technicain:
  • Manage the full returns process, including inspection of goods, warranty assessment, and issuing replacements.
  • Diagnose mechanical and optical faults on returned equipment to identify root causes.
  • Carry out repairs such as component replacement and optical cleaning.
  • Answer dealer and customer queries regarding spare parts and arrange dispatch.
  • Make independent decisions on warranty claims once trained and clearly communicate outcomes.
  • Pack and process returns for shipment, including handling heavier optical equipment.
  • Communicate with customers to troubleshoot issues and guide them through solutions.
  • Provide regular updates and follow-ups to ensure issues are fully resolved.
Requirements Of The Customer Service Technicain:
  • Previous experience in returns, logistics, warehouse, or technical repair environments preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude or experience with intricate manual work (electronics, modelling, or similar hobbies beneficial).
  • Confident using Windows-based computer systems and quick to learn new software.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of warranty decisions.
  • Proactive, organised approach with the ability to manage workloads during quieter periods.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Interest in optics or astronomy is advantageous, though full training will be provided.
